The Vox recently covered research by Professor Giovanni Peri and Vasco Yasenov regarding the effect of Cuban refugees on wages in Miami, revisiting an episode that is producing academic controversy between them and George Borjas of Harvard. This article analyzes in detail the limitations of the Borjas’ study and explains why the analysis of Peri and Yasenov is likely more accurate.
