Migration Workshop Series Call for Papers

FlyerThe Centre d’Études Prospectives et d’Informations Internationales (CEPII), the Paris School of Economics (PSE), the College of Management of Technology (CDM) at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) are pleased to announce the 1st workshop in the series on “Migration, Globalization and the Knowledge Economy”, to be held at the CEPII premises, in Paris, November 28, 2018.

Migration plays a key role in today’s knowledge economies, as it helps to introduce and diffusing innovations that feed economic growth and well-being. In 2013, the worldwide stock of migrants stood at 230 million, or 3.2% of the worldwide population, with tertiary-educated men and women representing a substantial and increasing share of it (UN-DESA and OECD, 2013).

Far from taking place exclusively along a south–north or east–west axis, such highly skilled migration occurs also between advanced economies, especially for doctoral holders, engineers and scientists, who contribute both to knowledge creation in destination countries and to its diffusion worldwide. The importance of short-term and circular migration is also growing, fueled in particular by students, academic scientists, professionals and executives of multinational enterprises.
