J. Ed Taylor's research regarding aiding refugees in Rwanda and Uganda was featured in an Undark article
Professor J. Ed Taylor's two research studies was recently featured in an Undark article. Taylor and his team from UC Davis, the International Food Policy Research Institute, and the World Food Program conducted elaborate surveys of households and businesses in and around refugee settlements in order to construct economic models of refugee households, local households and markets.
Their models allowed them to analyze the long-term effects of refugees and migrants in their new communities in Rwanda and Uganda. They found that every dollar spent by governments and organizations on refugee aid is multiplied as added income.
